16.4

Be able to pitch ideas on proposed audio-visual products to a producer, client or focus groups for feedback.

For this you will need to present your ideas and treatments. You will need to produce the following:
  • 2 printed copies of each treatment/show bible (synopsis, character bios, short outline of each episode with 2 episodes in more detail inclusion an example scene)  -  your name and contact details should be on the front
  • An example of original audio-visual products (extract from your TV titles on vimeo or embedded in presentation)
  • A 3 slide presentation for each idea
Your slides should reflect the look of your programme and give a visual idea of what we will on screen. You can use the images you have taken for the title sequence to help.

The 3 slide presentation should include information about the following:
  • working title (name of show)
  • content & style (genre, key imagery and look)
  • potential position in the marketplace (when it will be shown e.g. pay per view TV)
  • target audience (age, lifestyle, interests and other shows for this audience)
  • running time (In Britain dramas run from about 45 to 48 minutes on commercial and subscription-based TV channels , with 57 to 59 minutes on BBC)
You will have about 8 minutes per pair to present your pitch so you will need to think carefully about how to present the information. It should have the key information and be detailed and relevant, specific detail about the program can be in the treatment/show bible.
